The Vintage Racing Club of British Columbia (VRCBC) held the 37th running of its annual marquee race weekend, the British Columbia Historic Motor Races (BCHMR) over the August 8th-9th weekend, at the Mission Raceway Park Motorsports Circuit. The BCHMR is the largest Vintage-themed racing event in Western Canada.
We were very pleased that this year’s event was again co-hosted with the Sports Car Club of British Columbia (SCCBC) and that Titanium Ford joined us again as our presenting sponsor. It was also great to have some of our good friends from SOVREN join us again this year.
The weather was excellent (if a little warm at times) again this year. There was lots of competitive racing in all of the race groups. We also again featured a round of the West Coast Sprite-Midget Challenge and the Driver’s Edge Spec Miata Challenge. Both of those races were a lot of fun for the entrants and the spectators. The Field of Dreams had an excellent turnout as well, and many of the participants enjoyed the opportunity for the traditional lunchtime parade laps on both Saturday and Sunday.
A big thank you as always to all of the volunteers: the META teams working the corners, the Safety Crew / Ambulance, Tech, Starters and Pre-Grid, plus all of the officials in the background looking after Timing and Scoring, Stewarding, etc. We couldn’t do it without all your help. That we were able to stay very close to our demanding schedule in spite of a few incidents, illustrates how experienced and efficient all of these people are.
